Many studies claim to describe the business benefits of D&I. Critics, however, often challenge the research methodology or other aspects. The updated 3rd edition of the unique International Business Case Report (IBCR 3.1) contains 1-page summaries of 203 studies which were all checked for significance, robustness, validity, reliability and, if applicable, for statistical bias.
A quantum leap in both quantity and quality of evidence on D&I benefits
The updated IBCR 3.1 contains 68 studies more than the previous 2012 edition. All studies included substantiate the value-added from Diversity & Inclusion. The new 2016 edition takes the Business Case for Diversity to a new quality level, for many studies go beyond simple causalities and show mediating or moderating factors that make a difference. The report does this through 203 systematically evaluated empirical studies from 28 different countries or regions. It covers 6 out of 7 key dimensions of diversity: Age, Ethnicity/Culture, Disability, Gender, Sexual Orientation and Work/Life-Balance. Most studies, however, do not focus on a single topic. The studies show that D&I leads to internal benefits on organisational, interpersonal and individual levels as well as external advantages vis-à-vis clients / markets, shareholders or candidates.
A convincing desktop reference tool
IBCR is different than individual studies that are occasionally used to describe the business case for D&I. All studies that are included were carefully evaluated based on the following criteria: significance, robustness, validity, reliability and, if applicable, statistical bias. Only if all criteria were met, the study was summarised on a single page and included in the report. This makes IBCR an indispensable desktop reference tool that helps you convincing your internal stakeholders of the need for and benefits of D&I. Furthermore, it implies strategic advice on how to fine-tune your D&I programmes for effectiveness and success.
